Animation Class Week 01 Moving Object

This week for animation all we had to do was grab a ball rig and key it in Maya, but I wanted to do something extra with the biped rig.

2D Class Week 01 Basics of Drawing Shapes

Our 2D assignment this week was to draw two mannequins using Zbrush models as a reference.

Here is the original image I used from Zbrush.

2D Class Week 01 Art Of Syd Mead

This week we took a look at the art of Syd Mead and created boards on Pinterest to collect some of his work for reference. He is known for his designs for the movie Blade Runner. I love Blade Runner because it pushed the boundaries of CGI environments back in it's time, and it established a distinct style for the dystopian scifi genre.

Here are some of my favorites of his. I like the style because it is very futuristic but retains a sort of retro 80's quality. I can definitely see a lot of his influence in scifi movies today.

3D Week 001 Assignment (UE4 Simple Box Level)

For this first assignment we created a simple cube in Maya and brought it into Unreal Engine 4. The purpose is to get a sense of scale for objects going from one program to the other.

Here is the generic mannequin model imported from UE4 into maya to see the size difference with the cube.

Here I created a basic material in UE4 for the cubes and set it up for material instancing.

Here I created material instances to make different colored cubes to work with.

The assignment said "no limits" to what we do with the cubes... So I made a Super Adventure Box themed jumping puzzle from Guild Wars 2.
